Looking Back:
For this lab we were given dry ice. We were told to observe it and see how much gas was let out. This was a pretty cool experiment but, it was more like just playing with dry ice instead of figuring out how to measure the gas. I wish that we would've had longer to try to figure out the question. It was very interesting to see what happens to the dry ice and how it reacts with other things.
Looking Beyond:
This is something that makes me wonder why it has the reactions that it does. It is the simple things like dry ice that make me think about what that thing does. The simple things in life are so beautiful. They make me appreciate the complex things so much more.
Looking Inward:
I had a lot of fun with this lab. I found my self just staring at the ice at different times. I was really cool to just look at it to see what it did. I tried to help with the question of how to measure the gas but, we all just got very confused. I often find myself staring at simple objects. It is really interesting to me see how other things affect life and how they are so small with such a big impact.
Looking Outward:
I really liked the group I worked with. I worked Zach Geier, Chiara Allen, Andrew Maya, and Rose Wilson. We worked really well together to get a deeper understanding of what was happening. I feel like being with them makes me want to work harder. I want to continue working with this group.
Take Aways:
From last year I learned to never walk in front of a pressurized bottle used for oil extractions. Last year the bottle could've exploded so Brian had to open the bottle. When he opened the bottle opened I was in front of it and got covered in freeze dried strawberries and snow like stuff. This experiment reminded me of that experience.
