Looking Back:
Looking Back at this experiment was a lot of fun. This experiment was put off for a long time because we had to finish our rocket posters, so we had to wait about a week. We made the ice cream by mixing dry ice into the regular mixture. This was so messy because we kept on spilling the ice cream before it was frozen and it was super gross to clean up. When it was done it tasted really good, it felt a little bubbly and fizzy. I felt a lot lighter than regular ice cream because gas was infused into it.
Looking Beyond:
The first thing we did was mix the powdered sugar, half and half, and vanilla in a bowl. We then slowly mixed in the dry ice. If we would've put the dry ice in all at once, the mixture would bubble up and spill out of the bowl. We kept adding and mixing in dry ice until it formed a thicker consistency. By using the dry ice as the cooling element, we get a quick way to make the ice cream with little to no residue from it. This method works because when we mix in the dry ice, we get the cold and the CO2 gets incorporated. We decided to put the mixture into a bottle so it would get more carbonated. Then we put it in an ice cream maker to get it firmer.
Looking In:
I added a lot to this experiment because I brought a lot of the ingredients and supplies we needed. I feel like I did a lot of the organizing for this experiment to happen. I think that it wouldn't have happened if I didn't get involved in it. While we were making it, I had to pour the mixture into a bottle and it kept spilling and I felt bad about that.
Looking Out:
I worked with Rose and Chiara for this experiment. I really like working with them because they are my best friends and we all understand each other. i find myself always working well with them because we encourage each other to get our work done. I'm so sad this is our last experiment together.
Takeaways:
Some takeaways were 1. Never push things back, they will never get done 2. Plan everything out, we were so uncoordinated and it was kind of a mess. There were probably more things but, I can't remember them right now.
